Rebecca Anglin is an Assistant Professor with a joint appointment in the Departments of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences and Medicine within the Division of Gastroenterology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Anglin obtained her MD from McMaster University in 2005. She completed her psychiatry residency training in 2010 followed by the Clinician Investigator Training Program in 2012, both at McMaster University. She was awarded a PhD in Medical Sciences (Neuroscience and Behavioural Sciences) from McMaster University in November 2012. Her clinical work as a psychiatrist is in consultation-liaison psychiatry, and she is Director of the GI Psychiatry clinic at McMaster University that provides integrated, interdisciplinary care for patients with gastrointestinal disorders and psychiatric comorbidity.

Dr Anglin’s research focuses on gut-brain interactions, the role the gut microbiome may play in the neurobiology of psychiatric illness and the psychiatric comorbidity of medical illness. She is principal investigator on several studies investigating the microbiome in psychiatric illness as well as clinical and treatment trials in GI psychiatry and also conducts systematic review and meta-analyses on topics related to medical psychiatry. Her research has been funded by many agencies including the National Institute of Mental Health, Ontario Mental Health Foundation, Physicians Services Incorporated, Hamilton Health Sciences and McMaster University.

Dr Anglin leads the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences strategic direction “Integrating Psychiatry across Medicine and Healthcare” at McMaster University. Dr.Anglin is actively involved in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level as chief examiner for the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences and has received several teaching awards including the Excellence in Clinical Teaching award and Dedication to Education Award from the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University.
