Jonathan Ausman is an Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Queen’s University. His research relates to the molecular mechanisms of placental dysfunction in preeclampsia, a devastating and complex disease of pregnancy. This research has underscored the importance of early diagnostics and biomarkers which can only be achieved by deeper understanding of the subcellular changes that occur in complex pregnancies. His motivation for work in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology is fueled by the desire for advocacy in an area of research and clinical care that has historically been underprioritized. He identifies as a member of the LGBTQ2S+ community. His clinical practice focuses on many subsets marginalized populations, including those who are at increased vulnerability to infectious diseases in pregnancy.
