Eric Benchimol is Past Chair of the Scientific and Medical Advisory Council of Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, and co-led the development of the 2023 Impact of IBD in Canada Report. He has an active practice caring for children and youth with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Dr. Benchimol is also an epidemiologist, and chairs the Canadian Gastro-Intestinal Epidemiology Consortium (CanGIEC), which conducts epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, outcomes, and health services research using the health administrative data from multiple provinces. He is Associate Program Director for the GI fellowship program at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids).
