Dr. Cathy Lu is an Associate Professor in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Calgary. She has completed a joint advanced IBD fellowship with specialization in intestinal ultrasound at the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta. She is an executive committee board member of the STAR (Stenosis, Therapy, and Anti-Fibrotic Research) Consortium and leads the development of the ultrasound index for Crohn’s disease strictures. Dr. Lu is also a member of the scientific committee for the International Bowel Ultrasound Organization, and is the scientific director of iUSCAN, the IUS organization of Canada and the United States. Her primary research interests are in fibrostenotic Crohn’s disease, intestinal ultrasound, and biomarkers in diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment response in IBD.
